First Week

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned."
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Matt 4:16-17 (NKJV)

The photo above is of our neighborhood, it’s taken from the top of our building and only shows about one quarter of the buildings where we live. There are so many more that you can’t even see. Yesterday I was horribly reminded of how suddenly a person can be swept off into eternity as we saw one young man lying covered by a blue cloth, dead in one of the roadways here, the result of a terrible accident. Please pray that the LORD of all will use our humble attempts to help shine HIS great light into this region.
Our first week has started off very well and the LORD has blessed us so much. We have gotten settled into the apartment and are beginning to feel somewhat normal, adjusting to the time difference.
We have only been able to teach about eight classes this week but next week is completely booked so please pray hard for us. We will be helping with English classes in two local public schools, one private English school and also at Universities.
Also please pray for a new opportunity the LORD has opened. Here in Poltava there is a large Medical Academy where many students from the Middle East come to study. This is a great opportunity for the local Ukrainian believers as well as us, to be able the share CHRIST with young Islamic men who have traveled here to get thier education. Today I was able to spend about two hours with three of these young men. They have lots of questions and are very open. I was able to share my salvation testimony with them and try to start to show them what a real personal relationship with GOD through JESUS CHRIST looks like. This will most likely be a long process considering their backgrounds but I could really sense GOD’S SPIRIT at work as we talked. Please pray for them, I won’t share their names but two are from Egypt and one is from Iraq. Their countries are in complete turmoil and I’m sure they have much uncertainty.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support. We miss you and love you. Please continue to pray for my family as they mourn the loss of my uncle. GOD Bless!!!
